The Victory Girls blog reminds us that 84-year-old Nancy Pelosi is returning to Congress with a broken hip.  Something about that image feels like a metaphor for the Democratic party….In case you were wondering which stars have the worst case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, Hollywood in Toto provides a handy list.  It includes Kathy Griffin, Rosie O’Donnell, and Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin of “The View”…Oprah Winfrey has received NewsBusters 2024 Celebrity Freak-Out Award for her statements at the November 4 rally for Kamala Harris.  Per NewsBusters, Oprah said, “If we don’t show up tomorrow, it is entirely possible that we will not have the opportunity to ever cast a ballot again.”  The conservative media monitoring site also cited quotes by Robert De Niro, Stephen Colbert and Jack Black as runners-up to Oprah…Townhall’s Larry Elder points out the many similarities between Donald Trump and Muhammad Ali (who he refers to by his birth name of Cassius Clay).  He calls them “kindred spirits.”  I’m trying not to gag…Just in case Trump feels he’s not getting enough attention before his inauguration, he’s scheduled a “Victory Rally” for 20,000 revelers on January 19.  That doesn’t set well with some supporters who feel it could make him a target for another assassination attempt. The year 2025 could be a rocky one for mainstream media reporters covering the White House.  In an interview with Fox News earlier this week, incoming Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt signaled that podcasters and social media influencers may be given credentials for White House press briefing possibly at the expense of reporters from more traditional outlets.  "So we will look to effectively communicate his (Trump's) message through all mediums so that all Americans are hearing the facts from the White House directly, not through the lens of the ever-biased anti-Trump legacy media," she told interviewer Kellyanne Conway. (RedState)…Here are two must-read articles that caught my eye over the long holiday break.  Humorist Dave Barry penned what must surely be the funniest (and longest) recap of  year 2024 for The Washington Post.  Without giving away too much, Biden and Boeing really landed on the griddle. You don’t need to be a subscriber to access as long as you provide your email.  On a more serious note, The New York Times examined the popular right wing website The Epoch Times and found that it published more than 17,000 articles (!!!) about the Shen Yun dance group and the controversial religious movement that backs it….The David brand of protein bars supposedly signals a pro-masculine cultural shift. “These bars are meant for manly men,” according to The Federalist’s Jennifer Galardi.  “Men who walk through life with intention and purpose. Men on a mission. Men who wake up at 4:30 a.m. for a workout and return home for a rare grass-fed steak with a big slab of butter on it.” Galardi also notes that because of Trump’s re-election, masculinity is back.
