TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The Manhattan jury’s $83 million judgment against Donald Trump had the mainstream media buzzing overtime this weekend. Yet the  reaction from right wing media was mostly crickets, almost like he got slapped with a parking ticket…Nastiest right wing headline of the week (and it’s only Monday!) comes  courtesy of the Free Beacon: “Finally Some Good News: The Journalist Population Is Getting Smaller.” Free Beacon’s Andrew Stiles goes on to say, “Combating the overpopulation of journalists might be the only issue on which Biden has succeeded where Donald Trump failed.” My take: the drastic shrinking of the news business, one of the pillars of our democracy, is a cause for alarm, not celebration. I’m aligned Sebastian Junger’s National Review lead article.  The award-winning author argues that when journalism dies, the truth dies with it…Dept. of Coincidence: WND wonders if the National Review, the bible of establishment conservatives, is on its last legs.…Trigger warning for the right: The hot documentary out of the Sundance Film Festival was “Will & Harper.” It chronicles Will Ferrell’s road trip across America with long-time pal Harper, who came out as a trans woman two years ago. “Have you been to Nordstrom Rack, since you got a new rack,”  Ferrell quips to Harper, reports the SF Gate. The film got a standing ovation at Sundance. No word on which service will stream it, but it’s a safe bet that it won’t be Fox Nation...If  you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Dems Drove the Putney Paper Mill Out of Business

Granite Grok

The ironic bit is that the so-called party of the working man will gnash their teeth at the injustice of the dissolution of not just another business, without ever admitting it was their fault. Vermont Democrats and the Biden Presidency have made it too expensive to do business, and Putney isn’t the only casualty.

God bless Greg Abbott and the great state of Texas, who rightfully cherish their sovereignty and righteously refuse to bend the knee to the most lawless presidential administration in American history.

The border has been increasingly lawless since President Joe Biden took office. Texas isn’t getting any help from the Supreme Court either.

The Trump-MAGA Purge

Wall Street Journal

Trump has decided the way to unite the GOP, after his 54% to 43% victory in New Hampshire, is to purge Republicans who are still skeptical of him. Retribution is at the top of his mind, as he said when launching his campaign. Yet this politics of subtraction will make it harder to beat President Biden.

This isn’t the first time Judge Kaplan has shown his contempt for Trump. He introduced Trump to the witness stand asserting that Trump ‘inserted fingers into E. Jean Carroll’s vagina.’

Republicans Are the Party of Parents

By Ronna McDaniel: While Democrats stand with bureaucrats, teachers unions and the special interest groups, Republicans will always stand up for parents and families. In states like Virginia, Arkansas and Florida Republicans have taken action to codify parental rights, increase resources for schools, improve curriculums and expand school choice options.

As Stewart takes over both in front of and behind the camera the number to watch is 78, that is the percentage of jokes The Daily Show directed towards conservatives in 2023. If Stewart really does go after “both sides,” that number should be quite a bit lower in 2024, but don’t hold your breath.

It’s important to remember that all the other nominees who beat out Robbie in the Best Actress category . . . are women. Robbie was probably bumped for a nomination by Annette Bening, a 65-year-old actress who plays the marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, a lesbian, in the movie Nyad. Who’s more deserving on feminist grounds?
