Greetings! “Chilly” red carpet reception: Who noticed Trump’s winter attire when he personally welcomed China’s leader Xi Jinping and his wife at Maryland’s Joint Base Andrews?  Trump wore a dark, winter-appropriate overcoat over his suit  for the September 23 red carpet greeting with temps in the upper 50s.  Even more mysteriously, Trump had on gloves.  Melania, Xi and Xi’s wife did not wear gloves as these images show. Perhaps Trump is covering up more bruises on his hands and he reasoned it would look weird if he just had gloves with no overcoat. The Daily Beast has more...Trump issued a stern denial to reports that he wants to affix his name on DC’s Ford Theater where President Lincoln was assassinated. “It is FAKE NEWS,” he bellowed in a typically angry Truth Social post. “Who would possibly want their name on such a tragic place?” My response: a madman...Mainstream media predictably blasted The Daily Wire’s just-released feature-length film Run, Hide, Fight: Infidels. But I didn’t expect the right-wing Daily Caller to line up against the film about an Islamic terrorist group taking over a woke college.  Opinion editor Adrien Gonzalez snarked, “Calling it a movie may be giving it more credit than it deserves.” Gonzalez went on to add, “Every single political point is underlined, every character trait is thoroughly elucidated, every joke is telegraphed, and every ideological conflict comes with its own instruction manual.” Worth noting: In my column for MSNOW.com last week, which is reposted here, I wrote, “Because it’s so heavy-handed and belligerently partisan, it stands virtually no chance of entertaining anyone but the converted. Nix the press ban: So advise the editors of the right-leaning National Review.  “It is a violation of the spirit of a free press, and (Trump) would be better served by confronting reporters directly,” they wrote. Agree!...USA’s Chief Marketing Officer? During his off-the-rails speech at the UN yesterday, Trump insisted on re-branding artificial intelligence by the newly minted term “super intelligence.” Trump seems more interested in functioning as the country’s chief marketing officer, where he has obvious talents for coining catchy phrases that often stick (see: MAGA and all of its many offshoots). Personally, I’m in favor of calling artificial intelligence SHIT (Super Handy Intelligent Technology) because that’s where the world is heading if global leaders don’t create some guardrails to control AI. Worth noting: In his latest column, Thomas Friedman of the NY Times, thinks it’s time to cry wolf and it’s hard to argue against him...Worst state for academic freedom: It’s Maine, according to the Heritage Foundation’s annual ranking. Massachusetts and Connecticut are also in the bottom five. Florida got the nod as the best state for academic freedom.
