 Police never know when the simple act of stopping a person on the street could result in that person turning violent. But it is those confronted who have the edge in determining whether a non-violent act becomes violent. The lockdown is a crime. But even more upsetting is that it is supported by so many Americans. This country is unrecognizable to those of us who lived through the 1968-1970 pandemic, which killed, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 100,000 Americans – the 2020 equivalent of 170,000 Americans. Nothing shut down. Not one mask was worn.

To blame this violence on Trump because he’s in office is like blaming him for the border wall not being erected fast enough. It’s like blaming him for the economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus when, in fact, he has persistently tried, over strenuous Democratic obstruction, to sensibly and safely reopen our economy.

President Trump’s approval rating has hit a new high of 52%, according to a Zogby Analytics poll that finds strong support among blacks, Hispanics and urban dwellers. Trump has the approval of 36% of blacks, 37% of Hispanics and, extraordinarily, 23% of Democrats.
