Axios, a digital media property with billionaire backers and a sponsorship roster that reads like a who’s who of the Fortune 100…informed readers that the site had received just shy of $5 million in the first round of PPP funding. The story got a brief mention from the Hill and editorial treatment from Lloyd Grove in the Daily Beast. But as near as we can tell, other mainstream outlets have been conspicuously mum.

Biden Would Close Gun Stores Amid Pandemic

Gun-control activist and Joe Biden surrogate Fred Guttenberg said the presumptive Democratic nominee would shut down gun stores in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Guttenberg told the audience at a virtual town hall Monday that Trump was killing Americans by allowing gun stores to remain open, pointing to federal guidelines that labeled gun businesses “essential.”

She delayed passage of the last bailout bill by more than a week, floating a 1,400-page counter-proposal jam-packed with special handouts and diversity mandates. She has pushed tax cuts for blue-state billionaires and commended her colleagues for delaying Republican efforts to shore up the economy.

Dem Defends Chinese Wet Markets in Face of Scientific Consensus About Their Dangers

An Illinois Democrat who has blamed President Trump for coronavirus deaths defended Chinese wet markets ignoring the scientific consensus that they are breeding grounds for deadly diseases. “I think we need to be careful about laying all the blame on a particular cultural practice in a country that we don’t live in,” Rep. Sean Casten (D., Ill.) told his constituents. 

NRA Will Furlough More Workers Due to Virus

NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre told staffers in a Thursday email that a new wave of furloughs will commence on Friday. Those workers will continue to receive health benefits during their absence, but will no longer be paid beginning on Monday. He said the cuts were necessary to “ensure our ‘house’—the bedrock of protecting our nation’s freedom—remains viable for the long term.”

Liberal Groups Spend More Than $20 Million Attacking Trump and GOP on Coronavirus

Democrats have used the outbreak in recent weeks to campaign in battleground states that could determine the presidential election, including PA, MI, and WI. Liberal advocacy groups and super PACs are airing ads slamming the president as slow in responding to the pandemic. The multimillion-dollar efforts are fueled by groups bankrolled by some of the party’s top donors, including billionaires Donald Sussman and George Soros.

Former Bernie Surrogate Lashes Out at Campaign for Being Treated Like Slave

Former Bernie Sanders campaign surrogate Ja’Mal Green attacked the campaign’s leadership Monday, alleging widespread mistreatment of black surrogates. The 24-year-old Black Lives Matter activist claimed that campaign officials Heather Gautney and Shasti Conrad “ran the surrogate team into the ground & treated us black surrogates like they [sic] were slaves.”

U.S. Does Not Have More Coronavirus Deaths Than China, Senator Says

The United States does not currently have more coronavirus-related deaths than China, despite media claims, according to a senator on the Select Committee on Intelligence. Sen. Ben Sasse (R., Neb.), who sits on the committee that deals with classified intelligence, said the Chinese Communist Party continues to lie about the actual death toll from coronavirus in its own country.

Rich Socialist Restaurateur Lays Off Hundreds Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

A socialism-themed restaurant chain in Washington, D.C., run by a multimillionaire former mayoral candidate laid off hundreds of staffers this week due to the city’s coronavirus restrictions, according to reports. Andy Shallal said he was forced to let go hundreds of waiters and other employees at Busboys and Poets, his chain of six restaurants and bookstores across the city.
