Trump Favors NY Post and Other Murdoch-Owned Outlets in June Links

Foxnews.com Posts First Traffic Decline Since 2022

For the first time since November 2022, year-over-year (YOY) monthly traffic to Foxnews.com decreased, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis. Last month, the conservative news behemoth attracted 74.7 million unique visitors compared to 76.2 million during the same period in 2022.  It represented a 2% drop.

During a relatively slow month for news in June, especially compared to June 2022 when the Jan. 6 hearings dominated the early summer news cycle, Foxnews.com still managed to post solid gains in audience. However, it was not the double-digit growth it had experienced since December.

Negative Publicity Fails to Dent Online Audience for Foxnews.com

Year-over-year unique visitors to Foxnews.com surged 21% in March, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of mobile and desktop traffic based on Comscore data.  It was the fourth straight month of double-digit traffic gains for the site. “There was no negative impact to the online audience based on the latest data,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.   

The Daily Wire Dominates Q4 Right Wing Podcasting

The Daily Wire, a media company co-founded by Ben Shapiro in 2015,  had three of the fastest-growing right wing podcasts by percentage growth in Q4: “The Morning Wire,” which had the largest YOY percentage increase in the quarter; “Candace,” with Candace Owens; and “The Matt Walsh Show.” And Ben Shapiro’s podcast was dubbed “the number one brand in right wing podcasting.”

Right-Wing Websites Continue to Lose Traffic

“Right-wing news sites are unable to shake their traffic malaise,” said Howard Polskin, President and Chief Curator, TheRighting. “The big news events of September 2022 such as DeSantis sending immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard and Hurricane Ian failed to produce a surge in unique visitors.”

Megyn Kelly Has the Fastest Growing Right-Wing Podcast

Year-over-year subscribers to “The Megyn Kelly Show” surged 60% making it the third quarter’s fastest-growing conservative podcast by percentage, according to data analyzed by TheRighting on the podcast app Castbox. Kelly, Candace Owen and Laura Ingraham were the only women to crack TheRighting’s top 20 list.

June Traffic Slumps for Most Right-Wing News Websites

Only five right-wing news websites posted year-over-year increases in unique visitors according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of June 2022. Traffic to the website of former President Donald Trump, DonaldJTrump.com, continued to decline sharply. It dropped 80% to 284,000 unique visitors, compared to 1,420,000 in June 2021.
