It has now become clear that the Democrats’ effort to impeach this president is flawed both as a matter of substance and as a matter of procedure.

It’s time, though, to move on from this ill-conceived attempt to overturn the 2016 election, and to decide whether the continued operation of that bureaucracy and that political establishment is in the best interest of Americans. We can give thanks that this is still the choice that can be made by the American people themselves.

The real disgrace of the debates was the failure to challenge Senator Warren on her American Indian heritage “hoax” for which she offered a public apology to Native Americans — but not to other Americans, especially racial minorities. Not one question to Warren by any moderator on allowing her employers at Harvard Law School to list her as one of “several minority hires in 1996.”

Margaret Carlson: When I invite someone to stay at my place…I don’t bill them. But what “staying at my place” means when it’s Trump doing the inviting is that the taxpayer will pay dearly — likely six figures for the whole entourage (a suite with ocean view, high-count thread sheets, in-floor heat, and bespoke decor goes for $1,000 per night), and that’s without the cost of the commute by helicopter, or the bar tab.

There has never been a better opportunity for Mr. Trump to showcase his “Art of the Deal” credentials. If he plays his cards right, he can achieve the rarified status of embodying that famous Chinese proverb: “the greatest conqueror is he who overcomes the enemy without a blow.”

Clearly, the president is close to having a “lock” on his re-election. One clue this is true is the relatively weak field of Democratic candidates seeking to challenge him for the presidency. Obviously, potential Democratic challengers have read the polls and grasp the fact the president’s numbers are much stronger than the pollsters would have you believe.
