In an Instagram video, Fiona Moriarty-Mclaughlin, a journalist from the conservative Washington Examiner, can be seen posing with a drill pretending to board up a store window, then proceeding to run into her Mercedes-Benz…Viewers are calling it an example of “performative activism,” a form of activism in which individuals post or pretend to support a cause in order to gain a following or make themselves look better to others.

When Donald Trump’s time in the White House is reduced to a small exhibit in the back corner of Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum, a single phrase will serve to define Trump’s every act: “I don’t take responsibility at all.” Trump may have said that in response to a question about his handling of the COVID-19 crisis, but it’s an all-purpose description of his policy on every point.

Trump was getting daily updates from intelligence agencies warning about the increasing threat of the pandemic for months—months in which he kept on golfing, holding rallies, and saying it would all just go away. But Trump has found a scapegoat even among the intelligence community. Shockingly (in a completely unshocking way) that scapegoat is an experienced woman.
