Ray Cardello: We begin Black History Month today. The idea of month-long celebrations to single out one group of society has always bothered me. I see these events as divisive and not unifiers. If I look upon Blacks as equal, and I do, then why do I need a month to sing their praise.

This group works to put members into political positions, including school boards. These candidates need to be vetted, and their motives scrutinized carefully by the voters. Are they running to serve or to transform? Maybe it is time for BLM to be canceled. Perhaps we should have thought more carefully before elevating them to heroes by painting their logo on our city streets.

The person who fills Justice Breyer’s seat on the Court should be the best person available. The American people deserve and expect to have the nine finest legal minds available sitting on the Supreme Court. Lady Justice wears a blindfold to indicate that the Court should be blind to the people appearing before it.
